FAQ

Here's where you'll find answers to some of the questions you may have. If you still need to know something, contact us and we'll get back to you.

Where are you located?
Fetching Dogs does not have a shelter. We have a network of foster carers throughout Sydney, who take our rescued dogs into their homes and care for them as if they were their own. This gives us a chance to not only assess their health more closely but also their behaviour and personality, as well as getting the dog used to home life again.

What vetwork do you provide your rescued dogs?
Our dogs are desexed, microchipped, lifetime registered (NSW), C5 Vaccinated, Heartworm tested and treated, wormed, and flea treated.

How much are your dogs?
The adoption fee is a maximum of $400. Due to the fact we help advertise other Rescue Groups' dogs, as well as assist in rehoming dogs that can no longer be cared for, the fee can differ slightly. The adoption fee covers all vetwork as well as food, toys, etc, while the dog is in care with us.

How do I apply?
All you need to do is complete our online Adoption Enquiry. This is an expression of interest only and does not guarantee an adoption. We reserve the right to deny an application and the decision is final.

When can I meet the dog?
If you have filled out an Adoption Enquiry, we will call you to discuss the dog you are interested in. If everyone is happy to proceed, then a meet and greet will be arranged. Your family will go to meet the dog. This is to ensure both you and the dog are compatible for each other. The next step, assuming it is a good match, is to do a site visit. A volunteer will come to your house and make sure the fencing is safe and secure, so that the dog cannot escape and end up back at the pound. Once this is completed, and the dog is ready to go, then we will set a day and time for you to collect the dog and complete the adoption agreement.

Is the dog mine once we sign the adoption agreement?
No. Fetching Dogs offers a four week adoption trial, so if it turns out it is not a compatible match, you are welcome to bring the dog back into our care. Of course, we will always be there to offer advice and support while the dog is with you. During this four week trial, if the dog needs medical treatment, you must contact us and we will let you know which nominated vet to go to.

Can you transport the dog to another state for me?
Generally we do not adopt interstate. This is mostly because we require all potential adopters to meet the dog before proceeding with the adoption. The dog must be met by the adopter and not a representative. However, if you are willing to make the commitment to travel that far to meet the dog, then we are willing to consider it. Please understand though that an adoption is not guaranteed. Every applicant goes through the same process, regardless of how far you've travelled.

Can I help out in any way?
Fetching Dog is always looking for volunteers, whether they be foster carers or helping us with events or transport of dogs. If you think you can foster, please complete our Foster Carer Application. If you'd like to help in any other way, please contact us.
